VR Eye Test teamed up with Another Reality Studio (ARS) to develop an innovative virtual reality (VR) eye examination tool that brings the experience of an ophthalmologist's office into the comfort of the user's home. The collaboration aimed to replace traditional eye exam equipment, which was often expensive, uncomfortable, bulky, and outdated. Instead, ARS created a state-of-the-art VR application that performs multiple industry-standard eye tests while offering enhanced comfort, cost efficiency, and portability in a compact design.

The VR Eye Test app integrates several advanced features to deliver a high-quality eye examination experience. A custom API was developed to seamlessly integrate the app with internal software systems and databases, ensuring smooth communication and data management. The app boasts an intuitive user interface designed for ease of use during eye tests. Users interact with the app via a controller that manages test operations and key inputs. On the technical side, backend API development enables comprehensive functionalities including communication between the app and the client’s site, user profile management, result storage, and detailed analytics. It supports a range of test environments to conduct various eye exams.

At the project’s inception, ARS’s project manager focused on evaluating the concept’s feasibility and collaborated closely with the client to define the user experience, estimate project costs, and establish a timeline with clear milestones. The development team, led by the developer team lead, created sophisticated VR eye test algorithms using the Oculus SDK and the MEAN stack. After the app’s delivery, ARS continued to support the client through maintenance, new feature development, and additional project opportunities. The app also features a 360-degree video for personal introductions and a FAQ section with a doctor.

The ARS solution introduced a custom VR app that allows users to undergo comprehensive eye exams from any location. This app stores all examination data on the backend for doctors to review and diagnose, thereby offering a modern, efficient alternative to traditional eye exam equipment.
